Günter Schaub

Günter Schaub (also Günther ) (born January 4, 1933 in Duisburg ; † April 18, 2013 in Dubai ) was a German lawyer and former presiding judge at the Federal Labor Court .

Career

After graduating from high school in 1953, Schaub studied law at the University of Cologne until 1956. He passed the first state examination in 1957, the second in 1961 after completing his legal preparatory service in the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court. After employment at the labor courts in Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Herne and Siegen, Schaub was appointed to the labor court advisor at the labor court in Herne in June 1965. From August 1968 to July 1970 he worked as a research assistant at the Federal Labor Court . In mid-November 1974 he was appointed presiding judge at the Düsseldorf Regional Labor Court.

Since 1978 Schaub was a judge at the Federal Labor Court . From May 1, 1990, he became the presiding judge of the Fourth Senate, the "Collective Agreement Senate". Schaub was also a member of the Presidium of the Federal Labor Court and the Judges' Council of the Federal Supreme Court. On February 1, 1998, he retired . His labor law handbook, first published in 1972, was for a long time the only monographic overview of German labor law. In 1998 he founded the Erfurt Commentary on Labor Law as co-editor . He was co-editor of the NZA until his death .
