The gallery in the small courtyard

The Galerie or Musikkneipe Galerie is a pub that opened in 1974 in a listed backyard of the Flensburg pedestrian zone .

The half-timbered house on Holm 66 served as a post office from 1743 and was later used as a plumbing and tea room. The first pub owner, Peter Küster, received a license from the city of Flensburg on June 13, 1974, who named the pub after the Galerie Night Club , his favorite bar in New Orleans . From 1975 Michael Reinhardt shaped the artistic profile for the next 23 years. It was he who helped the cabaret stage to become internationally known through his connections. Especially mid-1970s to the 1990s was the day rather than a restaurant run restaurant "an internationally known music pub" in the folk music , rock 'n' roll and jazz played and political cabaret , theater and poetry readings were presented. An event launched in 1982, the Flensburger Evenings , organized by the Association for the Promotion of Cabaret , provided a stage for cabaret artists and young musicians and honored the talents with the Flensburg Cabaret Prize, endowed with 500 DM (later 1000 DM) .

The best known artists and bands who performed live in the gallery include Ingo Appelt (1993), Wolf Biermann (1986 with Daniel Viglietti and 1988, 1990, 1992 and 1994), Ian Cussick (1993), Georg Danzer (1987 , 1993), Franz Josef Degenhardt (1986, 1989, 1990, 1993), Donovan (1987), Johnny and the Hurricanes (1987), Dieter Hildebrandt (1987), Georg Kreisler (1987), Heinz Rudolf Kunze (1989), Nina (1988) and Eva-Maria Hagen (1986, 1988, 1990), Christy Moore (1991), Erika Pluhar , Inga Rumpf (1994), Hans Scheibner (1988, 1994), The Searchers (1989), Herman van Veen and Hannes Wader (1989, 1990).
