The Gauliga Westfalen 1938/39 was the sixth season of the Gauliga Westfalen in football. FC Schalke 04 secured the championship with a seven point lead over VfL Bochum . The "Royal Blues" remained without defeat for the fourth season in a row. Schalke qualified for the final round of the German championship , which they won with a 9-0 final victory over SK Admira Wien . The relegation ranks were occupied by SpVgg Herten and SV Höntrop . Gelsenguß Gelsenkirchen and VfB 03 Bielefeld rose from the district leagues .
