Gauner-Serenade is a comedic mixture of spy and hit film from West German production from 1960 by Thomas Engel with Fred Bertelmann and Chris Howland in the leading roles.

action

Fred and Chris appear as mood and pop singers and are quite successful. One day, against their will, they get caught up in an espionage affair. They now feel as if they are being followed by the mastermind "Pappi" as well as by the police and therefore join a vaudeville troupe led by a certain Gorgonzolo. With this traveling circus they finally manage to escape across the border unnoticed. Soon the two singers get to know two pretty young women, the dance siblings Ruby and Rosy, with whom both promptly fall in love. But the pursuers didn’t let up, and finally Fred and Chris have to face their problems until everything dissolves into a happy ending in a comedy-fair manner.
