Crooks against crooks is a French comedy film directed by Claude Zidi from 1990. It is the sequel to Die Briblichen .

action

The old René Boirond and his young colleague François Lesbuche have been police officers in the Paris district of Montmartre for many years . After years of training, René got the originally exemplary police officer François to be bribed, and both of them have settled down well. Since René is committed to horse betting and is always wrong, he is also dependent on money from the sellers in the area. However, François finally wants to be honest as he wants to take the exam to become a commissioner. René wants to prove to him that nobody is really honest and arrests the first person they meet. It's Michel Blanchard, director of the Banque National du Commerce. When both believe during the interrogation that they have arrested the only honest person in Paris, Blanchard suddenly wants to make a statement and René lets him go. Shortly thereafter, they catch a thief who stole money in a shop. You take the money from him and let him go. Because of his new honesty, François decides not to keep the money and returns it to the saleswoman along with René's share. It turns out to be René's former lover, who was abandoned by him. The thief is arrested by another patrol and the saleswoman claims that she did not receive the stolen money. Because René and François violated various service regulations, they are arrested. All the dealers in the area are now unpacking against them, reporting years of bribes and other gifts that they both had to give. Without further ado, they are now suspended from duty for the duration of the investigation into the case. Your substitutes are quickly found in Guy Brisson and Jean-Pierre Portal.

While René and François retreat to a friend in the country, but are not supposed to be seen in Paris until their case is resolved, Brisson and Portal continue their methods to an even greater extent. They extort higher bribes, which drive traders to the brink of bankruptcy, fake break-ins in order to "change the mind" of previous objectors and force traders to expand their bogus businesses even further so that they can extort more money. Soon the merchants of Montmartre had enough and sent a delegation to René and François to bring them back to Paris. Both should stop their substitutes.

Back in Paris, Brisson and Portal are both expected and publicly frisked. In the following days, both of them make life difficult for René in particular, trying to get François on their side. François plays along with her and René, who has friends watch over him, believes more and more that he has lost François. His girlfriend Natacha soon doesn't recognize François either and turns to René worried. François reports that he was shot and is dying. François went to see him immediately, whereupon both of them were arrested by Brisson and Portal: They never believed François and now they put drugs on him. During the interrogation, François blames René and reports to the two policemen about every minor misconduct of his colleague. However, this was only an excuse to overpower Brisson and Portal and flee with René. In the following years, both of them are on the run from the police, but one day they watch Brisson hand over numerous envelopes to his mother. She puts it in a locker at the Banque National du Commerce. They both remember the bank director Michel Blanchart, whom they now visit and who is cooperative in order not to end up in prison. In a nightly action they break into the bank and into Brisson's safe deposit box and take the money. Meanwhile, an associate alerts Brisson and Portal that the bank is being broken into. When the policemen enter the vault, René and François are there and lock them in. They then alert the police, who catch Brisson and Portal in the act. With their money, René and François want to go to the country, but are brought back to Paris by the police. Here the Prefect of Police reveals to them that all statements by the dealers have been withdrawn - their promise that they have put an end to Brisson and Portal - and that the successful arrest of Brisson and Portal has earned them a promotion: a position in the service inspectorate. François wants to take the opportunity and return the money stolen from the bank. He gives the prefect the bag with the money saying that he will immediately part with a vice of the past. However, René has filled his pocket with his betting newspapers unnoticed and the Prefect is pleased that François never wants to bet on horse races again.
