history
The mountain and winter combat school began training on September 1, 1956 in the Luttensee camp near Mittenwald. From 1959 the mountain and winter combat school was subordinate to today's infantry school in Hammelburg as a teaching group for mountain and winter combat, but became independent again from 1963 as combat force school IV . This school was closed again in 1968 and parts of it were used to set up the mountain training center of the 1st Mountain Division . In 1970 the training center for mountain and winter combat was set up, which was reclassified as a mountain and winter combat school from 1971. In 1992 the school moved to the General Kübler barracks, later to the Karwendel barracks. Since 2000 the school has been subordinate to the General of the Infantry .
As part of the realignment of the Bundeswehr , the mountain and winter combat school was dissolved in June 2015 and reorganized as a training base for mountain and winter combat.
Association badge
The association badge of the mountain and winter combat school, like all badges of the military schools, showed two crossed swords on a red background. In addition, an "S" signaled that it was one of the army's schools . The green border corresponded to the weapon color of the infantry , which also includes the mountain troops. Overall, it corresponded to the association badge of the infantry training center.
On July 8, 2015, the mountain and winter combat school became the new training base for mountain and winter combat . A new association badge has also been introduced to illustrate this changed orientation. The paratrooper troops are represented by the burgundy-red sky, including the mountains in gray (corresponding to the gray of the mountain cap), the mountain hunters and the hunters in the green foreland. Two crossed swords symbolize the entire infantry of the Bundeswehr.
