description

The GRZ Krelingen was founded in 1965 by the preacher and revival theologian Heinrich Kemner . It was initially founded on a former farm as a Christian leisure center for young people. In the meantime, the GRZ has grown into a 17- hectare area with many different work areas. There is also a church on the factory premises that serves as a place of worship for employees, residents and interested parties .

Stone at the entrance

Organizational support of the work is the non-profit association GRZ Krelingen eV The basic concern of the work consists in living, learning and working in a Christian community as well as the transmission and consolidation of the Christian faith. The current plant manager and chairman of the board has been Pastor Ralf Richter since October 1, 2019.

The GRZ Krelingen belongs to the category II works of the evangelically oriented Evangelical Alliance . They are defined as "independent diaconal, evangelistic, missionary and pastoral works that work supraregional and feel connected in their statutes to the cooperation of the Evangelical Alliance". The GRZ has the donation verification certificate from the Evangelical Alliance (valid until December 31, 2020).

Krelingen Study Center

The Krelingen Study Center was founded in November 1972 and, from a legal point of view, is a state-recognized supplementary school. It primarily serves to prepare for university study of Protestant theology in accordance with the Bible , but is also open to other careers: On the one hand, not only students from the regional church are accepted there, but also from other Christian denominations; Furthermore, not all students change to a university after their time in Krelingen, but also to a Bible or mission school. The course at GRZ Krelingen does not necessarily have to be at the beginning of the theology course, but can also be integrated into an ongoing overall course - even without theological reference.

The curriculum includes language courses in the biblical languages ancient Greek and Hebrew as well as in Latin (with an introduction to state and church-recognized language qualifications), introductions to philosophy and a year of theological preparatory studies as preparation for university studies . Shared flats for the students are set up directly in the study center. The students live separately according to gender in shared apartments of up to seven people in two of the three study buildings, which also contain a library and two small lecture halls . New in the offer of the Kelinger study center since 2019 is a preparatory study year for young people who want to work in social / diaconal professions ("work with people") and an orientation year for young adults for personal, spiritual and professional orientation (compass year).

The current director of studies is New Testament scholar Thomas Jeromin. His predecessors were Sven Findeisen from 1972 to 1979 , Joachim Cochlovius from 1979 to 1996 , Pastor Erhard Berneburg from 1998 to 2007 and the Old Testament scholar Manfred Dreytza from 2008 to 2017 .

A hotel is also part of the leisure and conference center. The GRZ is known as a conference location beyond the German borders.
