Gemünden is a district ( district ) of Daun in the central Vulkaneifel in the Vulkaneifel district in Rhineland-Palatinate .

location

The place is in the valley of the Lieser . The Gemündener Maar is about 200 meters east of the village . The neighboring towns of Gemünden are Daun in the north , Weiersbach in the south and the Eifel-Ferienpark Daun in the west. The L 46 runs on the eastern edge of the village. In the village the Pützbach flows into the Lieser.

history

Gemünden was first mentioned in a document in 1345.

Until the end of the 18th century Gemünden belonged half to the lordship of Kasselburg and half to the Electorate of Trier . The Kurtrierische part and was under the administration and jurisdiction of the office Daun . Gemünden was assigned to the Schalkenmehren center .

In 1794 the Left Bank of the Rhine was occupied by French revolutionary troops in the First Coalition War. From 1798 to 1814 Gemünden belonged to the canton of Daun in the Saardepartement .

At the Congress of Vienna (1815), the region came to the Kingdom of Prussia , Gemünden was assigned to the newly established Daun district in the Trier administrative district in 1816 and administered by the Daun mayor .

On April 1, 1938, Gemünden was incorporated into the town of Daun.
