Neunkirchen is a district ( district ) of Daun in the central Vulkaneifel in the Vulkaneifel district in Rhineland-Palatinate .

geography

The place is in the Pützbachtal. The neighboring towns of Neunkirchen are Steinborn in the north and Pützborn in the south-east . State road L 28 runs on the eastern edge of the village . Furthermore, the Eifelsteig runs on the southern outskirts .

The Neunkirchener Mühle residential area also belongs to the Neunkirchen district.

history

Neunkirchen was first mentioned in a document in 1190.

Until the end of the 18th century, Neunkirchen was the seat of a high court which was jointly owned by the Electorate of Trier and the Duke of Arenberg . The Electoral Trier part was under the Manderscheid office , the Arenberg part belonged to the Kasselburg lordship . The localities Neunkirchen and Pützborn as well as half of Gemünden belonged to the judicial district of Neunkirchen .

In 1794 French revolutionary troops occupied the left bank of the Rhine . From 1798 to 1814 Neunkirchen belonged to the French canton of Daun in the Saardepartement . At the Congress of Vienna (1815) the region was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia . Neunkirchen was from 1816 to the newly built district down in Trier assigned.

On June 7, 1969, the previously independent community of Neunkirchen, with its 317 inhabitants at the time, was incorporated into the town of Daun.

In 1841 the village received a school and in 1921 electricity. In 1973 the school was closed and moved to Daun.

church

The Catholic parish church of St. Anna is located in the village. It dominates the townscape of Neunkirchen.
