Location of the municipality of Bödefeld-Land (excluding Altenfeld and Valme) in the new town of Schmallenberg

The former municipality of Bödefeld-Land was founded in 1844 in the Meschede district in the Prussian province of Westphalia . It consisted of the places Brabecke , Altenfeld , Gellinghausen , Westernbödefeld , Osterwald and Valme as well as the hamlets Rimberg and Sonderhof . The district of Altenfeld was separated from the core area of the municipality of Bödefeld-Land by the intervening area of the municipality of Bödefeld-Freiheit. The municipal reorganization in North Rhine-Westphalia in 1975 led to the dissolution of the municipality.

history

The Prussian rural community order of October 31, 1841 provided for the formation of communities with corporate rights and with an elected community council. Previously, the neighboring villages around Bödefeld were subject to a mayor . These had also received larger joint tasks within the framework of the communal parish association.

Initially, following the enactment of the rural community order, the intention was to form a community from the Bödefeld freedom and the six other localities of the Bödefeld parish. Bödefeld objected to this plan. This led to the fact that on December 17, 1843, the President of the Province of Westphalia, Ludwig von Vincke, approved the application for a separate municipality in Bödefeld.

The government in Arnsberg then announced in the official gazette on June 3, 1844 that the parish of Bödefeld was separated into the two communities of Bödefeld-Land and Freiheit Bödefeld with reference to Section 15 of the Landgemeindeordnung. Before it was founded, around 830 people lived in the new community. The property of the individual places was administered in the overall representation of the municipality.

With the municipal reorganization in North Rhine-Westphalia on January 1, 1975, a large part of the municipality Bödefeld-Land was assigned to the city of Schmallenberg , with the exception of Altenfeld and Valme . Since that date Altenfeld has belonged to the town of Winterberg and Unter- and Obervalme to the municipality of Bestwig .
