The municipal council election in 1922 took place on May 14, 1922 and was the third municipal council election in St. Pölten after the end of the war. The Social Democratic Workers' Party of German Austria won the election again, received the most votes and achieved an absolute majority .

Starting position

After the municipal council election in 1921 , the city of St. Pölten was made a statutory city . In the course of the awarding of the statute, the cadastral communities Spratzern , Teufelhof , Ober- and Unter- Wagram and Viehofen were incorporated, which made a new election of the municipal council necessary, including the new townspeople. The old councilors remained in office until the new elections.

A change accompanying the statute was the abandonment of the municipal board and the creation of the city council.

Campaigning parties and election process

In the elections, the Social Democratic Workers' Party of German Austria (SDAPDÖ) ran under Hubert Schnofl as in 1921 . The Christian Social Party (CS) and the Greater German People's Party (GDVP, 1919: DVP) formed the electoral community of the united Christian Social and Greater German People's Parties (WG) and ran under Georg Prader . The German National Socialist Workers' Party (DNAP) ran under Ludwig Hauer, the Civil Democratic Labor Party (BDP) under Wilhelm Schweighofer and the Freedom Party (FP) under Ignaz Berger stood for election. The Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ) did not run in 1922.
