The municipal council election in 1921 took place on April 24, 1921 and was the second municipal council election in St. Pölten after the end of the war. The Social Democratic Workers' Party of German Austria won the election again and achieved an absolute majority .

Starting position

Together with the elections in St. Pölten, the state elections in Lower Austria and the elections for municipal councils in 223 other municipalities took place, the corresponding law was announced on March 9th of that year. In today's urban area, the councils of the then independent communities Radlberg , Spratzern , Stattersdorf and Viehofen were elected.

Campaigning parties and election process

In the elections, the Social Democratic Workers 'Party of German Austria (SDAPDÖ) under Hubert Schnofl , the Christian Social Party (CS) under Johann Wohlmeyer , the Greater German People's Party (GDVP, 1919: DVP) under Anton Schilling, the German National Socialist Workers' Party (DNAP) under August Teltscher as well the Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ) for the first time .

Election result

In the election of April 24, 1921, the SDAPDÖ was able to unite the most votes and gain an absolute majority despite slight losses .

A total of 42 seats

The newly elected council met on May 18, 1921 for its constituent meeting. It was Hubert Schnofl selected by 37 of the 42 votes for mayor. Franz Peer (SDAPDÖ) was elected first Vice Mayor and Johann Wohlmeyer (CS) was elected second Vice Mayor .
