The municipal council election in 1927 took place on April 24, 1927 and was the fourth municipal council election in St. Pölten after the end of the war. The Social Democratic Workers' Party of German Austria won the election again, received the most votes and achieved an absolute majority .

Starting position

The municipal council elections took place on the same day as the national council elections , the Lower Austrian state elections, as well as two other state elections and numerous other municipal council elections.

Campaigning parties and election process

In the elections, the Social Democratic Workers' Party of German Austria (SDAPDÖ) ran under Hubert Schnofl, as in 1922 . The electoral community made up of the Christian Social Party (CS) and the Greater German People's Party (GDVP) entered as a unity list (EL) under Georg Prader, which formed in 1922 as the electoral community of the united Christian-Social and Greater German People's Parties (WG) .

The National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP) ran under Franz Umlauf, and the Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ) and the Völkisch-Sozial Block (VSB) stood for election.

Election result

In the election of April 24, 1927, the SDAPDÖ was able to achieve profits, unite the most votes and win an absolute majority .

A total of 42 seats

The newly elected local council met on May 16, 1927 for its constituent session. It was Hubert Schnofl elected with 40 of the 40 votes cast for mayor. Franz Peer (SDAPDÖ) was elected first vice mayor and Georg Prader (EL) was elected second vice mayor .
