Georg Alexander Rost also in the spelling variants Georg A. Rost , GA Rost (born March 13, 1877 in Buchholz , Amtshauptmannschaft Annaberg , Kingdom of Saxony ; † July 1, 1970 in Berlin ) was a German dermatologist and marine doctor .

Life

Family and education

The Evangelical baptized, from the mountain town originating Buchholz Georg Alexander Rost, son of the factory owner Maximilian rust and whose spouse Helene born Mauersberger, put the Abitur 1895 at the Royal Grammar School in Dresden-Neustadt from. He then turned to the study of medicine at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Bonn , the University of Leipzig and the University of Kiel to, there took place in 1902 his doctorate to Dr. med. Georg Alexander Rost married Ida nee Becker in 1914. He died in Berlin at the beginning of July 1970 at the age of 93.

Professional background

Georg Alexander Rost joined the Imperial Navy as a medical officer in 1901 . In 1914 he took a senior physician office at the University Dermatology Clinic Bonn, the same year habilitated himself as a lecturer for the subject of dermatology. In 1915 Georg Alexander Rost accepted an appointment to the extraordinary professorship of dermatology at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg , at the same time the later appointed full professor was appointed head of the dermatology clinic. In 1933 he was denounced as politically unreliable by the leader of the student body and some SA doctors because of his membership in the German Democratic Party and then dismissed from service in August of the same year. Rost then moved to Berlin, where he opened a specialist medical practice. In 1945 he was appointed doctor in charge of the dermatological clinic at the Berlin-Spandau Municipal Hospital, and in 1951 resigned from this position. In 1950 Georg Alexander Rost , who was also interested in medical history , was appointed honorary professor at the Free University of Berlin , and in 1954 the lecturer in this field retired.

Georg Alexander Rost, honorary member of the Royal Medical Academy in Rome and numerous dermatological societies in Europe, dealt in particular with radiation therapy and radiation biology . According to him, are exudative eczematous rust named, eczema-like, but by appearance and course from eczema distinctive skin diseases ( cradle cap and eczema ).
