from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johann Georg Beer (born February 14, 1816 in Lauterbach near Steingaden , † January 16, 1876 in Erling ) was a German organ builder .

Live and act

Georg Beer learned organ building from Joseph Pröbstl and then worked with Franz Joseph Schin (approx. 1787–1843) in Neuburg adDonau and with Joseph Schweinacher in Landshut . In 1845 he started his own business in Erling and also ran agriculture. By 1875 he had built more than 50 organs, mostly with slider chests .

His son Johann Georg († April 7, 1896) continued the business until 1890, after which the other son Roman Heinrich (born August 9, 1866 in Erling; † July 23, 1929 there) took over the business. In 1911 he handed it over to his nephew Ludwig Eisenschmid .

From 1870 onwards, some cone chests were built in the pedal , and from 1880 on, entire organs with mechanical cone chests were built.
