Georg Erhardt (painter)

Georg Erhardt (born June 11, 1944 in Zurich ; † March 13, 2020 there ) was a Swiss painter , graphic artist and illustrator .

Life

Georg Erhardt comes from a family of artists. He grew up in Zurich and from 1962 to 1966 completed an apprenticeship as a graphic designer with the renowned Swiss graphic artist Lora Lamm . He worked as a graphic designer , art director and illustrator in Italy ( Milan , at the La Rinascente department store 1966–1969) and in Germany ( Munich , 1969–1970) before moving back to Switzerland . After working for various advertising agencies in Zurich , he started his own business in 1974. Since 2002 he has devoted himself exclusively to painting .

His graphic work includes works for Toni Yoghurt, Camel , Coca-Cola , Esso , Ricola and Migros . Other works: Logos (including Restaurant Mère Catherine ( Zurich ), Bar Le Philosophe (Zurich), Kino Stüssihof / Roland / Radium, Gasthaus Güggel ( Zumikon ), C-Films), film posters (including Azzurro (2000) , Der Congress of the Penguins (1993), The boat is full (1981)), packaging design (including Toni Yoghurt, Ricola, Weber St. Adrian schnapps distillery).

Georg Erhardt's art can be assigned to fantastic realism . His painting is influenced by the Italian Renaissance , German Romanticism, and the innocence of trivial visual fantasies of the American 30s. He divided his artistic work into “The Other World” and “This World”.

The Other World: He called himself “the discoverer of the Other World”. There are strange plants and animals as well as numerous bizarre machines and vehicles .

This world: this includes his other paintings and sculptures. Like portraits or subjects that are not totally fictional .
