Georg Ernst Ludwig von Preuschen Freiherr von und zu Liebenstein II (born December 22, 1764 in Karlsruhe , † September 12, 1849 in Roßbach ) was a member of the Nassau state parliament and judge and president of the Wiesbaden Court of Appeal .

Georg Ernst Ludwig von Preuschen Freiherr von und zu Liebenstein was the son of his father of the same name, Georg Ernst Ludwig von Preuschen von und zu Liebenstein (1727–1794) and his wife Margaretha Luise née Büttner (1731–1799). His brother August von Preuschen von und zu Liebenstein also became an appellate judge and a member of the state parliament.

He married Maria Dorothea Josepha, born Freiin von Albini on April 17, 1803 in Würzburg (born July 16, 1780 in Wetzlar; † January 8, 1834 in Wiesbaden). His wife was the daughter of the Kurmainzischen directorial envoy and governor in Regensburg Franz Joseph Freiherr von Albini and Johanna Magdalena Weidinger. She was Catholic, canon of the noble St. Clara monastery in Bocholt, but converted to her husband's Protestant denomination after the wedding.

The sons of the marriage were Franz Georg Ernst Ludwig Freiherr von Preuschen von und zu Liebenstein (1804–1887), who later became an appellate judge in Wiesbaden, Friedrich Ludwig (Fritz) Freiherr von Preuschen von und zu Liebenstein (1806–1879), Dr. jur., Ducal Nassau Court and Appeal Court Assessor, August Ludwig Freiherr von Preuschen von und zu Liebenstein (1809–1871), Royal Dutch Major General of the Artillery and Georg Ernst Ludwig Freiherr von Preuschen von und zu Liebenstein (1814–1867) , Royal Bavarian Chamberlain, Royal Dutch and Grand Ducal Luxembourg Lieutenant Colonel.

The daughter Johanna (1812–1899) married Wilhelm Freiherr von Thüngen (1805–1871), Imperial Councilor of the Crown of Bavaria, hereditary chef of the Duchy of Franconia in 1834 : the daughter Karoline Wilhelmine Margarethe (1820–1906) became lady of honor of the Bavarian Order of Theresa and married in 1857 the K. and K. Rittmeister a. D. Ludwig (Louis) von Schwarzenau (1813-1880).

Life

He attended the Latin school in Dillenburg and from 1783 studied law at the University of Marburg . In 1785 he became a chancellery auditor, in 1787 chancellery director in Dillenburg, in 1792 in Princely Orange-Nassau and in 1803 as a councilor.

In 1815 he became director of the court court and director of the mining commission, in 1818 he became a secret council and president of the higher appeal court in Wiesbaden and a member of the state council . In 1836 he retired.

He was co- lord of Dürrenried and Wasmuthhausen , Lower Franconia

Up until the mediatization in 1806 he was, together with his brother August, the owner of the imperial village Osterspai . In the course of the Napoleonic reorganization through the Rhine Federation Act , Osterspai was taken over by the Duchy of Nassau in 1806 . The occupation took place on September 18, 1807. The place was assigned to the office Braubach . This ended the patrimonial jurisdiction of the brothers August and Georg Ernst Ludwig von Preuschen von und zu Liebenstein. In a letter dated 22./24. October 1807 to the Ehrenbreitstein government , the brothers recognized Nassau's sovereignty , but claimed patrimonial jurisdiction and police violence for themselves. Only with a letter of March 23rd from the government of the Duchy of Nassau was a final settlement reached. The brothers waived the patrimonial jurisdiction and received a compensation pension of 398 guilders annually.

1831–1832 he was a member of the Nassau Herrenbank as a representative of the Counts of Schönborn-Wiesentheid and 1832–1833 as a representative of the Prince of Orange .

Honors

He was a Knight of the Order of the Dutch Lion .
