Georg Ludwig Egidius von Koehler

Georg Ludwig Egidius von Köhler (born November 11, 1734 in Berlin , † August 30, 1811 in Berlin) was a Prussian officer, most recently a general of the cavalry .

Life

Koehler came from the Prussian aristocratic family of Kohler and entered after the outbreak of the Seven Years' War as a cornet in the by Hans Joachim von Ziethen guided Hussars. 2 a. He made it up to the adjutant and became a successful general like the former adjutants Zieten's Joachim Bernhard von Prittwitz , Erich Magnus von Wolffradt and Anton Wilhelm von L'Estocq . In 1761 he was awarded the order Pour le Mérite by the Prussian King Friedrich II for his achievements . From 1788 to 1796 he was chief of Hussar Regiment No. 3 . Under Friedrich Wilhelm II. Köhler was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle in 1794 and in 1796 appointed Chief of Hussar Regiment No. 7 .

From the new King Friedrich Wilhelm III. Appointed General Inspector of the Cavalry in Upper Silesia and already honored with the Order of the Black Eagle on August 28, 1800 , Köhler served as Governor of Warsaw (1806-1807) in the new province of South Prussia . Here he was replaced by Franz Heinrich Christian von Ploetz (1740-1819). On May 21, 1806 he was appointed general of the cavalry .

After the Peace of Tilsiter , Köhler received his farewell on August 5, 1807.
