Georg Heinrich Ludwig August Ernst von Schoenermarck (born July 14, 1783 in Berlin , † January 30, 1851 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Georg was a son of the Prussian Major General Georg von Schoenermarck (1740–1807) and his wife Henriette Eleonore, born von Düringshofen (1754–1832).

Military career

On May 1, 1796, Schoenermarck was employed as a Junker in the “von Blücher” hussar regiment of the Prussian Army and was promoted to second lieutenant until the beginning of March 1803 . In the Fourth Coalition War he took part in the Battle of Auerstedt , fought on the retreat near Nordhausen, Lychen (wounded), Neuruppin, Dirschau and Praust. King Friedrich Wilhelm III drew him for his behavior in the defense of Danzig . on June 19, 1807 with the order Pour le Mérite . On December 21, 1807 he was then transferred to the Pomeranian Hussar Regiment , which emerged from his old regiment. Schoenermarck took his leave on April 3, 1811 with the authorization to wear his old army uniform.

On February 18, 1813, the Guard-Uhlan Squadron was aggregated as Prime Lieutenant and his old regiment on February 23, 1813 . Schoenermarck rose to Rittmeister on September 19, 1813 and took part in the fighting near Leipzig , Lier , Courtray and Tournai during the Wars of Liberation . He was wounded near Baruth, awarded the Iron Cross II. Class for Neuss and the Order of St. Vladimir IV. Class for Hoogstraeten . On August 16, 1814 he received his farewell again.

Nevertheless, after the Peace of Paris , Schoenermarck returned to the army on April 28, 1815 and came as an adjutant to General von Thümen . On April 21, 1817 he became captain and squadron chief in the 3rd Hussar Regiment . With the promotion to major he was commander of the III. Battalions in the 24th Landwehr Regiment. He was then commissioned on November 13, 1834, initially to lead the 6th Hussar Regiment and on September 9, 1835, Schoenermarck was appointed commander. In this position, took place on March 30, 1837 was promoted to lieutenant colonel , and on March 30, 1839 , Colonel . On March 30, 1840, he was appointed commander of the Guard Hussar Regiment in Potsdam. Schoenermarck received the Order of St. John on September 17, 1843 . Colonel von Tümpling wrote in 1843: “Just as excellent as a regimental commander, as in his behavior in all living conditions, dignified morality and kindness of heart, keen understanding, scientific education, noble disposition and firm character are his own. With this he combines a high level of service and extensive theoretical and practical service knowledge. He had a very beneficial effect on the officer corps of the Guard Hussar Regiment and therefore raised the good spirit in it to the right point of view. He is an excellent brigade commander and is perfectly suited to higher positions ”.

Schoenermarck married Albertine Sophie Hering (1791-1812) on April 23, 1811 in Stolp . Their only daughter Albertine (1812-1867) married District Administrator Alexis von Haeseler in 1832 and became the mother of Field Marshal Gottlieb von Haeseler .
