Gerd Bauer (draftsman)

Gerhard "Gerd" Peter Bauer (born November 20, 1957 in Wolfsbach ; † November 27, 2017 in Bamberg ) was a German draftsman and modeler , children's book illustrator , cartoonist and comic artist . He was married to the photographer Christiane Richter.

Life

Gerd Bauer, whose real name was Peter Gerhard Bauer, worked from 1979 to 1981 as a ceramic artist and published about the same time cartoons in Goblmoo , a workshop newspaper that after the fork man was named. In 1981 Bauer moved from Bamberg to Nuremberg , where from 1982 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts with Heinz Schillinger .

As the first Nuremberg magazine, the Plärrer published Bauer's cartoons and caricatures from 1982 . In 1983 the cartoon volume Desert World was published by Plärrer Verlag in Nuremberg. Bauer has been working as a freelance draftsman and modeller since 1986. Between 1983 and 1989 five cartoon volumes were published by Eichborn Verlag . In 1991 a cartoon book was published by Alpha Comic Verlag . Together with Rudi Sopper, the children's books Burgfrosch Balthasar and Klein-Gans were created in 1997 , both by Baumhaus-Verlag . In 1998 the story of the castle frog Balthasar was performed at the ETA-Hoffmann-Theater , the stage design came from Bauer. In the same year the first volume of the Franconian cookbook series Sadd & Dsufrieden was published , for which Bauer is responsible for illustration. The cartoon band Bauernseufzer was published in 1999.

Since 1996, Bauer has regularly contributed cartoons for the Nuremberg regional edition of the evening newspaper . From 1999 the IHK Nürnberg published Bauer's cartoons for Middle Franconia in the magazine WiM - Wirtschaft in Mittelfranken . A selection of drawings from this series was published in December 2007 as Passd scho !! Gerd Bauer's compendium for economics and generally in book form.

Further cartoons were printed in the newspaper of the Nuremberg Clinic and the children's magazine Spick . In addition, Bauer's drawings were published in various catalogs and edited volumes, including those of Haffmans Verlag , Achterbahn Verlag , Eulenspiegel Verlag , Zinnober Verlag and Elefanten-Press.

Bauer exhibited outside of Franconia in Berlin , Kassel , Greiz , Tokyo and Kyōto . In 2016 Gerd Bauer was awarded the Nuremberg City Promotion Prize. Gerd Bauer died on November 27, 2017 after a long illness in Bamberg.
