Gerda Scheyrer
Gerda Scheyrer (born July 18, 1923 in Vienna ; † September 22, 1999 there ) was an Austrian singer ( soprano ) and actress .
Life
Scheyrer completed a singing course at the Vienna Music Academy , a. a. with Anny Konetzni . After one of her first public appearances on August 15, 1945 in the Vienna Konzerthaus, she made her stage debut on November 3, 1945 at the Vienna City Theater as Princess Helene in A Waltz Dream . From 1948 she was engaged at the Stadttheater Steyr , in the 1950/51 season she moved to the Salzburg State Theater and then worked at the Vienna Volksoper from 1951 to 1956 . From 1956 to 1977 she was a member of the Vienna State Opera , where she had her first appearance in 1951. At the State Opera she appeared in 44 different roles, including as Countess in Figaro's wedding and 51 times as Leonore in La forza del destino . As the first lady in Die Zauberflöte , which she sang 177 times here, she celebrated her last appearance at the State Opera in 1977.
At the Salzburg Festival in 1955 she appeared as Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos , in 1955 and 1956 as First Lady in the Magic Flute . In 1954 and 1956 she appeared at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, and from 1963 to 1964 at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. She was heard at the Rome Opera in 1954 as Marianne Leitmetzerin in Der Rosenkavalier and in 1956 as First Lady in the Magic Flute . She had other guest appearances at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera and at the Brussels Opera House . At the Bregenz Festival in 1960 she was seen as Gabriele in Wiener Blut , in 1964 as Lisa in Land of Smiles , in 1965 as Annina in One Night in Venice and in 1966 in the title role of Die Schöne Helena .
Scheyrer had a very extensive opera and operetta repertoire and was also a well-known oratorio soprano . After the end of her career, she was appointed professor at the Vienna Conservatory .
