The Germanic Proficiency Runes was in the time of the Second World War, one of the Nazi corresponding ideology award for members of the Waffen-SS . It was on 15 August 1943 by the Reich Leader SS Heinrich Himmler founded and forms on a swastika the Siegrune the SS from.

This badge was earned in the stages of bronze and silver after a three-stage test consisting of

  • Individual services
  • Team performances and
  • an ideological exam (2 hours exam, oral exam).

According to the foundation's decree, it should be "an incentive for physical training and military training in the spirit of the National Socialist worldview and a confirmation of the voluntary commitment to the Germanic community of fate ".

Since the Siegrune next to the swastika is the symbol that most clearly points to National Socialist ideas, the use of this symbol is punishable in Germany (see Use of symbols of unconstitutional organizations ). Likewise, according to the law on titles, medals and decorations from 1957, this award is not permitted in Germany.
