Kurland cuff

The Ärmelband Kurland was on 12 March 1945 as a combat award from Adolf Hitler approved and could all soldiers Army Group Courland are awarded, the

  • have participated in battles against the Red Army there for at least three months,

or but

  • were actively involved in three of the six battles in this area.

Without having met these criteria, wounded members of the Army Group could receive the award.

The award is an approx. 38 mm wide, black-edged ribbon and shows the black inscription KURLAND between two coats of arms on a silver-gray-white background . On the right shield you can see the elk head from the city arms of Mitau , the capital of Courland . The left coat of arms shows a Baltic cross .

The band was worn on the left forearm.
