Gert Loschütz

Gert Loschütz (born October 9, 1946 in Genthin ) is a German writer .

Life

The von Gert Loschütz family moved from the GDR to the Federal Republic of Germany in 1957 . In Dillenburg ( Hessen ) he attended the humanistic high school . In 1965 he traveled to Arkhangelsk as a cabin boy . After graduating from high school in 1966, he moved to Berlin and studied history, sociology and journalism at the Free University . He also worked in the literary branch of Hermann Luchterhand Verlag . In 1968 Loschütz was invited to the meeting of Group 47 at Dobříš Castle ( CSSR ), which could not take place due to the invasion of Soviet troops. He has been a freelance writer since 1971. In the early 1970s he lived with Elfriede Jelinek . In 1977 he moved to Frankfurt am Main . He was a guest dramaturge at the Schauspiel Frankfurt . In 2000 he returned to Berlin and lives there with his family.

He has been a member of the PEN Center Germany since 1988 and of the German Academy of Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main since 1979 .

Gert Loschütz is the author of prose works, poetry, plays, radio plays and television plays. His novel Dark Society was shortlisted for the German Book Prize 2005.
