Gerterode is a district of the municipality of Ludwigsau in northeast Hesse in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district in the eastern part of the Knüll .

Geographical location

The place is surrounded by forest in the Rohrbachtal . State road 3254 runs through the village .

In the past centuries, the inhabitants worked alongside agriculture and forestry as a basket maker and broom maker . That is why the area was also called Besengrund .

history

The court “in der Rohrbach ” (later Ludwigseck court ) consisted of the villages Beenhausen, Gerterode, Heierode, Rohrbach, Ober- and Niederthalhausen and Tann in 1538. In some cases, Ersrode, Trunsbach and the Schöpbach desert are also included. The court was located in the village of Tann. From 1579 the court belonged to the Rotenburg office , which was part of the Rotenburger Quart from 1627 to 1835 .

On December 31, 1971 Gerterode was incorporated into the new Ludwigsau community.
