Meckbach is a district of the municipality of Ludwigsau in northeast Hesse in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district in the eastern part of the Knüll .

geography

The place is on the edge of the Seulingswald in the Fulda valley on the Meckbach, which gave the place its name. State road 3254 runs through the village .

history

Archaeological excavations show that the area was inhabited as early as the Neolithic . The place was first mentioned in writing in 1233.

From the 16th century to 1821, Meckbach belonged to the Breitenbach court seat with the associated villages of Breitenbach, Lüdersdorf and Mecklar. Above the village lies the desert of Ulenrode.

On August 1, 1972, as part of the regional reform in Hesse , Meckbach was incorporated into the Ludwigsau community.

In 1991 the place won the competition: " Our village should be more beautiful ". A motocross event takes place in Meckbach every year.

Infrastructure
