Ersrode is a district of the municipality of Ludwigsau in northeast Hesse in the district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg .
Geographical location
Ersrode is located in the northeast part of the Knüllgebirge (Knüll) around 13.7 km (as the crow flies ) northwest of Friedlos , the seat of the Ludwigsauer municipal administration. It is located in the upper Beise valley. The next neighboring town is the Ludwigsauer Dorf Hainrode, also located to the south-southwest on the Beise .
Between Ersrode, Sterkelshausen and Beenhausen is Ludwigseck Castle , which is still inhabited by the owners today . Between the castle and the village, the watershed runs between the Fulda tributaries Beise in the west and Rohrbach in the east. About 1.5 km southeast of the village is located in the same valley nature reserve Malchustal with the Rohrbach inflow Malchustalbach located Malchusteich .
history
Orsrode is first mentioned in 1375 as a fiefdom of the Hersfeld Abbey . The court “in der Rohrbach ” (later Ludwigseck court ) consisted of the villages Beenhausen, Gerterode, Heierode, Rohrbach, Ober- and Niederthalhausen and Tann in 1538. In some cases, Ersrode, Trunsbach and the Schöpbach desert are also included. The court was located in the village of Tann. From 1579 the court belonged to the Rotenburg office , which was part of the Rotenburger Quart from 1627 to 1835 .
In 1837 the village church burned down after a lightning strike, and the foundation stone was laid for today's relatively large church in 1841. The church, made of large sandstone blocks, is surrounded by a low wall that formerly enclosed the cemetery with the remaining tombs. Inside the church there are two large epitaphs of the patron saints Riedesel Freiherren zu Eisenbach , who lived in Ludwigseck Castle for centuries, which is now owned by von und zu Gilsa . The old Wegmann organ from 1771 is a valuable historical work. The patronage of the Riedesel with its headquarters in Lauterbach still exists today.
On December 31, 1971, Ersrode , which was then part of the Rotenburg district , was incorporated into the new Ludwigseck community . This was already dissolved on August 1, 1972 and came to the municipality of Ludwigsau.
