Culture
The Rohrbachtal is also called Besengrund because in the past many small farmers in the wooded Rohrbachtal were dependent on the sideline of broom making.
Use of hydropower
None of the formerly numerous mills in the Rohrbachtal are used in the historical way today. In addition to the grain mills in the local areas, water power was used for wood cutting: cutting mill on Rohrbach between Beenhausen and Niederthalhausen, sawmill on Trunsbach between Niederthalhausen and Gerterode. There are currently two private turbines in Reilos, in which the water is used to generate electricity.
