Student representative body Bremen
The comprehensive school student representation in Bremen , or GSV Bremen for short , is the state-wide representation of all students in the state of Bremen . However, it currently operates primarily in the Bremen city area , while the Bremerhaven city area is represented by the Stadtschülerring (SSR) Bremerhaven.
tasks
As an “expert institution”, the GSV Bremen is a permanent guest in the Deputation for Education in Bremen. As a permanent guest, she has no direct influence on the decision-making process in terms of voting rights, but she does have the right to speak. All other tasks of the GSV Bremen can only be abstractly summarized in "Representing the students in Bremen". What this means in a specific case, which projects the GSV Bremen is pursuing, which positions it represents, etc. depends solely on the respective composition of the board.
structure
The GSV Bremen acts primarily in the form of its 13-member board. The board of directors has the right to speak on behalf of GSV Bremen and appear publicly during its term. According to the revised rules of procedure from 2004, the board meets openly, so that all students in Bremen are entitled to participate and vote. The decisions in the board of directors are made with a simple majority vote of the board members present, whereby the rules of procedure contain further regulations. All interested school learners have the opportunity to participate in the board.
The board is elected every year anew by representatives of the student councils of the individual schools at a so-called parliamentary session. The GSV delegates of the individual schools are entitled to vote on this according to Section 79 BremSchVwG. The next parliamentary session will take place at the beginning of the 2019/2020 school year.
The GSV Bremen participates in a few nationwide meetings, but has not been a member of the federal student conference since it left on December 15, 2018 .
Content orientation
The GSV Bremen has no prescribed or agreed content orientation. As a representation of the schoolchildren in Bremen, each board member is faced with the question of how they want to position themselves. In the Bremen school landscape, the GSV enjoys the reputation of a left-wing group. Part of the board meetings, however, is always the critical, debatable examination of schools and their conditions of existence. The regular participants in the board meetings of the GSV Bremen see themselves as content-related support for various school projects in Bremen. So it happens that the GSV does not only refer positively to all actions and projects, but always offers suggestions for improvement and support.
Projects
The main work of the GSV Bremen consists in its projects. The GSV works together with various school groups in Bremen and organizes a. a. School strikes, workshop days, SV development meetings.
Regular projects
The GSV information day
At the GSV Info Day , which now takes place almost annually, the GSV Bremen invites all students from Bremen and around to an extensive workshop day free of charge. The topics of the workshops are B. Racism in schools or effective SV work . The GSV information day lasts a whole day, the students are exempt from teaching for this. The aim of the information day is to inform interested students about the GSV and to encourage them to work.
New / irregular projects
School strike 2010
In 2010, the GSV founded the “Bremen Student Alliance”, which according to its own information consisted of 40 students from around 15 schools, and invited other groups and individuals to join. On January 28, 2010, the Bremen student union then organized a school strike in Bremen, in which, according to the police, around 700 students took part.
Bremen Alliance for Education
The Bremen Alliance for Education is still an alliance of the GSV Bremen, the Union for Education and Science (GEW) Bremen and the Central Parents Advisory Board (ZEB) Bremen. The alliance was formed for the purpose of organizing protests against the cuts in the education budget in Bremen.
The alliance itself has started a petition against the cuts, but its main effect was as an organizational basis for training. Through the alliance, the front line for Fort.Bildung school occupations was not between students, teachers and parents among themselves, but between the alliance of students, teachers and parents on the one hand and the education authority on the other.
Even after the collapse of the Fort.Bildung collective, the Bremen Alliance for Education remained active through further campaigns, e.g. B. on December 12, 2012 and June 18, 2013.
Continued education 2011
Fort.Bildung was a group of students that was not initiated directly by the GSV Bremen, but was largely supported by the GSV from the 3rd day of its foundation. The aim of the collective was to make all decisions jointly by consensus and to allow all students to participate in the decision-making processes and the resulting actions. The result is Fort.Bildung in the course of the upcoming cuts in the education budget at the beginning of the 2011/12 school year and the subsequent cuts in teaching positions in Bremen.
The collective began to occupy schools in Bremen in mid-September. During the occupation, food was cooked in the school by the students present. There were various workshops organized by the GSV Bremen, and many students slept in school afterwards. After one school was initially occupied, the students moved on to another school the next day, until a total of four schools in Bremen were occupied in the end.
YoDA Alliance 2012
"Young Despaired: Awake!" Was the motto of the YoDA alliance in 2012. This alliance was primarily about taking a clear position in terms of content and also differentiating itself from past actions. The members of the YoDA alliance have also dealt a lot with the school system.
In November 2012, the YoDA alliance organized an action week around the GSV information day, during which the various known forms of action were re-implemented. There was also a school strike and a short school occupation. However, in response to later criticism of the forms of action of the YoDA alliance, the GSV asserted that YoDA and GSV Bremen had nothing to do with each other.
SV and workshop day 2013
In order to devote more attention to the individual student councils (SVs) in Bremen, the GSV organized an SV and workshop day on June 18, 2013, to which the student councils and all other interested students were invited. The aim of this campaign was to bring together the very scattered SVs in Bremen, to network them with one another and to help in some places with the establishment of new SVs. Workshops on nationalism in schools, school criticism and gender roles were also offered.
