The General Association of the German Textile and Fashion Industry (" Gesamtverband textil + mode ") is an employers' and business association . Its members are the 10 regional and 18 professional associations of the textile and clothing industry as well as the shoe and leather goods industry in Germany. The association's headquarters are in Berlin. The general association textil + mode is a member of the Federal Association of German Industry , the Federal Association of German Employers' Associations and Euratex , the umbrella organization for the European textile and fashion industry.

purpose

The general association textil + mode pursues the purpose of perceiving and promoting common and professional interests of the textile and clothing industry in Germany. As an employers' association and business association, it represents the interests of its industry in all socio-political, economic, socio-political and collective bargaining issues. This happens to the public , the government , the political parties, the authorities, the professional and interdisciplinary business organizations and the trade unions . The association supports measures to promote textile knowledge in general schools, as part of dual training in companies and vocational schools as well as at universities and further training centers.

organization

Like all associations, the general association textil + mode has full-time and voluntary employees. The honorary office is made up of the presidia and boards of the member associations. The executive board within the meaning of the law is the presidium, in which representatives of the German textile and clothing industry sit. Ingeborg Neumann, managing partner of Peppermint Holding GmbH, has held the office of president in the long term since 2013.

history

On May 25, 1948, the establishment of the working group of the textile industry associations of the United Economic Area was announced. On February 10, 1950, the name was changed to General Association of the Textile Industry in the Federal Republic of Germany (Gesamttextil). The first president was Otto AH Vogel. On December 5, 2002, Gesamttextil and the Federal Association of the Clothing Industry (BBI) merged to form the General Association of the German Textile and Fashion Industry. Josef Albert Beckmann was elected the first association president.

Associations

The state associations are the regional employers' associations in the textile and clothing industry. Their demarcation is based on the boundaries of the tariff districts . They advise and support their members primarily in social and collective bargaining issues. The professional associations represent the interests of their member companies depending on the production stages or end products. They do not have the function of employers' associations.
