history

The oldest known picture of Gettsdorf from 1756.

The oldest registers begin after the Thirty Years War , with most of the news relating to the parish and church. This was subordinate to the market town of Ravelsbach and had its own vicars in the Middle Ages , one of whom is mentioned in 1396. The most famous pastor was the Melker Anselm Steyrer , a well-known mathematician and architect who created many designs for church buildings. The current parish church in Gettsdorf and the adjacent parish garden were also built according to his design. Hollenstein, Minichhofen, Wolfsbrunn, Fahndorf and Ziersdorf once belonged to the parish. Today parish membership is limited to Hollenstein and Minichhofen. 1973 Gettsdorf joined the large community of Ziersdorf.

A pencil sketch made by Helmut Hummel of the prominent points of the place served as a template for the coat of arms. Since then, the coat of arms has been used by the village renewal forum, in the fire brigade and by information from the mayor.
