Hollenstein is a village and cadastral community of the market town of Ziersdorf in Lower Austria .

geography

The place is located at the confluence of the Ravelsbach and Schmida rivers . The state road L43 runs through the village.

history

The first records come from the year 1275. Hollenstein was both a parish in the parish of Gettsdorf and was closely connected to the school. The Meierhof and three fiefdoms were sovereign property, the Göttweig Abbey received tithes from two fiefdoms and the Melk Abbey also had wine and grain tents.

After the reforms of 1848/1849 , Hollenstein was constituted as an independent municipality in 1850 and was initially subordinate to the Ravelsbach district and from 1868 to the Hollabrunn district . In 1971 it merged to form the large community of Ziersdorf.

Buildings

The local chapel is an early work by Clemens Holzmeister .
