geography
The place is at the southern end of the Fahndorfer Hügelland , where it drops into the Schmidatal , 5 km northeast of Ziersdorf and 10 km west of Hollabrunn on the L43 state road. From there, the L1222 branches off to the south to the L1221. history
Fahndorf was first mentioned in a document in 1110 in the inauguration document of the Ravelsbach parish church . At that time the place was written as Vogindorf . It was initially the seat of a noble family, later the Zwettl Abbey , the Heiligenkreuz Abbey and other Austrian ministerials acted as landlords. After the reforms of 1848/1849 , the village was established as an independent municipality in 1850 and was assigned to the Ober-Hollabrunn district until 1868 and then to the Hollabrunn district. Fahndorf joined the large community of Ziersdorf in 1971.

Parish church
The late baroque parish church of the Holy Spirit is located in the center of the village. The one-bay Gothic choir has a five-eighth end, buttresses and pointed arched windows . The nave , an addition around 1800, has beveled corners, flat arched windows and a saddle roof , a round choir staircase in the west and an architraved south portal. The north tower, which is Gothic in essence, with baroque sound windows and stone framing , is crowned by a baroque clock gable and an onion helmet. The church is surrounded by a cemetery with a baroque pillar portal.

In the east of the village there is a figure of St. Florian on a round volute pedestal , which is marked 1801.

The war memorial in the west of the village, built in 1932 and expanded after the Second World War, consists of three panels with the names of those who fell and those missing. On the top of the stone monument there is a metal eagle , on the right and left it is closed by pillars with grave lights .

In a trench at the western exit of the town there is a 300 m long cellar lane on both sides with 43 cellars and buildings. A second, one-sided, 150 m long single Kellergasse with 11 mainly traufständigen cellars and buildings located on a ground edge in Hintaus on the northwestern edge of the place.
