Gilbert Dall'Anese

Gilbert Dall'Anese (* 193? In Saint-Astier de Duras ( Lot-et-Garonne )) is a French jazz musician ( saxophone , also flute ) and orchestra conductor.

Act

Dall'Anese attended the conservatories in Bordeaux and Paris. In the 1950s he was active in the orchestras of Jacques Hélian , Benny Bennet , Camille Sauvage and Raymond Legrand . Since 1959 he was a permanent member of the Olympic Orchestra, where he accompanied Jacques Brel , Edith Piaf , Marlene Dietrich and in 1963 the Beatles . With Sylvie Vartan he went on tour around the world, to belong to Johnny Hallyday's band from 1966 and also to appear with Joe Dassin ; he was also involved with Hallyday on the soundtrack of the series Dallas . In 1976 he recorded the album Malice in Wonderland in Munich with Ian Paice , Tony Ashton and Jon Lord .

Antoine Hervé brought him to the Orchester National de Jazz in 1986 , to which he was a member until 1988. In 2002 he recorded the album Ode à l'océan under his own name . He also worked with Toots Thielemans , Peter Erskine , Randy Brecker , Steve Swallow , Carla Bley , Gil Evans , Didier Lockwood and Dee Dee Bridgewater . He composed film scores for Luc Besson . He can also be heard on albums by Nino Ferrer , Daniel Goyone , Maxime Le Forestier , Patricia Lay, Éric Serra and Benoît Widemann and also played in the soundtrack for Charlie Chaplin's last feature film , The Countess of Hong Kong .
