Giorgia Brenzan (born August 21, 1967 in Turin , Italy ) is an Italian soccer coach and former national soccer goalkeeper . Brenzan played for the Italian national women's team from 1986 to 2002 .

Brenzan's first international match was on March 1, 1986 in a game against the Netherlands . In July she took part in the Mundialito in Jesolo with Italy and was substituted on for Eva Russo in the group game against Mexico and in the semi-finals against the People's Republic of China . Your team won the tournament by beating the USA 1-0 in the final . At the European Championship finals the following year she was in the squad, but was not used. Her first appearance in the starting line-up was on November 15, 1987 in a 3-0 draw against Germany in qualifying for the 1989 European Championship . In the goalless second leg on April 2, 1988, she then remained clean. After she was in goal in the next game, there was a break until March 1989, so that she was not used in the 1988 Mundialito, in which Italy came second. In the game in March 1989, a 2: 3 defeat against Denmark , she was substituted on at the score of 1: 2 for Russo, who had caused the first goal by an own goal. But Russo remained a regular goalkeeper and was also used in the European Championship finals in 1989 , in which Italy was fourth and Brenzan was the substitute goalkeeper. Brenzan did not return until November and then made nine international matches in a row. Even if she was not always used afterwards and took turns in goal with Stefania Antonini , for whom she also went into goal on December 8, 1990 in the game against Sweden in the European Championship qualification after Antonini had received a red card , she was with the 1991 European Championship finals in goal in both games, which were lost, so that Italy again only finished fourth. Then she lost her regular place to Antonini. She was nominated for the first official women's World Cup , but Antonini was in goal there too. It was not used again until September 1992, but after another game in October there was another break until June 1993. At the European Championship finals in 1993 in her home country , she was back in goal in the semi-finals, the one on penalties against defending champions Germany was won. The subsequent final was lost 0-1 against Norway . In the following years she was mostly in goal, in the quarter-finals of the European Championship in 1995 , in which Italy failed in two games to Norway, but Antonini was in goal. Since Denmark was the better quarter-final loser, the Italians had missed both the 1995 World Cup and the first Olympic football tournament at the Atlanta Olympics . In March 1995, the Italians took part in the second edition of the Algarve Cup , but were able to play for seventh place against hosts Portugal after two defeats in which they were not in goal and one win and won 4-1. After that, Italy did not participate again until 2004, when she had already ended her career.

Brenzan had then established herself as a regular goalkeeper and was only absent five times by 2001. She was therefore also in goal at the 1997 European Championship , in which the Italians only lost the final against defending champions Germany. And she was also in goal in the three group matches at the 1999 World Cup . Since the Italians were eliminated after the preliminary round, they also missed the soccer tournament at the Olympic Games in Sydney . According to her personal statistics with the Italian Association, she made her last of 90 games on March 7, 2001 against the USA. In the following game against Yugoslavia she was not in goal and the following games are missing in the statistics of the Italian association, including the games at the 2001 European Championship , where she was team captain and was in goal in the three group games. The next game listed in the statistics of the Italian association took place on May 22, 2002 against Russia and there Brenzan was again in goal. After that, there is only one report for the games up to 2011 for a game against Canada on July 8, 2003 , in which it is not mentioned, but which is also not listed by FIFA or the Canadian Association. According to her profile at FIFA, she also played on June 8, 2002 in a World Cup qualifier against Iceland . In the FIFA 100 list of January 7, 2011, it is named with 111 games between 1987 and 2002.

After her career as a player, Brenzan worked as a coach, in 2004 for the U-21 team, in 2007 as a goalkeeping coach and assistant coach for the U-19 team at the 2011 U-19 European Championship and as the head coach of the U-20 team of the U-20 World Cup 2012 .
