Giuseppe Gherardeschi
Giuseppe Gherardeschi (born November 3, 1759 in Pistoia , † August 6, 1815 ibid) was an Italian conductor , organist and composer .
Life
Giuseppe came from a musical family. He received his first music lessons from his uncle Filippo Maria and his father Domenico, who was conductor in the cathedral of Pistoia. He then perfected his skills at the Neapolitan Conservatorio della Pietà dei Turchini under the wing of the composer Nicola Sala .
After completing his studies, he married Alessandra Leporatti (first soprano of the Maria dell'Umiltà church) with whom he fathered several children. He began his career as an organist in the same church in 1795 . In 1800 he succeeded his father as Kapellmeister at the Cathedral of Pistoia. He held this office until his death on August 6, 1815.
His work includes various sacred and secular compositions such as instrumental, chamber and vocal music, an oratorio and two operas.
