Glenn Zaleski

Glenn Zaleski (born August 24, 1987 in Boylston ) is an American jazz pianist .

Zaleski, who grew up in his birthplace, studied on a Brubeck Institute Fellowship 2005-07 in Stockton, California to get his bachelor's degree from The New School in 2009; Building on this, he studied until 2011 in the master's program at New York University , where he also taught. Since the mid-2000s he has worked in the New York jazz scene a. a. with Ravi Coltrane , Lage Lund , Phil Donkin , Michael Dease , Lucas Pino , Theo Kapilidis and Ari Hoenig . In 2010 he released a duo album with his brother, saxophonist Mark Zaleski ( Duet Suite ). In a trio with Colin Stranahan and Rick Rosato , he released two albums, first Anticipation (Capri, 2011), then Limitless (Capri, 2013). In 2015 he published his debut album My Ideal on Sunnyside Records , on which he processed standards by Jerome Kern , Freddie Hubbard and Charlie Parker ; it received positive reviews in publications such as Down Beat , JazzTimes and The New York Times . In the field of jazz he was involved in 27 recording sessions between 2007 and 2018. Glenn Zaleski counts Bill Evans and Dave Brubeck among his role models.

Awards

In 2001 Zaleski was a finalist in the APA Cole Porter Fellowship in Jazz, and in 2011 a semi-finalist in the Thelonious Monk Competition .
