The Glimketal area is a nature reserve designated in 2002 by the Detmold regional council (NSG number LIP – 040) in the north of the North Rhine-Westphalian town of Bad Salzuflen in the Lippe district in Germany .

location

The approximately 72 hectare large nature reserve Glimketal is one natural area to Lippische Bergland . It extends north of the Bad Salzufler district of Wüsten , between Pillenbruch in the southeast and the salt valley in the northwest, along the eponymous Glimke .

description

The predominantly near-natural Glimke runs over a length of around seven kilometers in an approximately one to two hundred meter wide and up to 15 meter high sole or box valley . Most of the valley as well as some parts of the slope are taken up by grassland, the almost continuous riparian woodland is dominated by the black alder , locally there are also extensive alluvial forests .

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose is the preservation and optimization of a stream valley system typical of the landscape with characteristic biotope types such as near-natural stream, alluvial forest and wet grassland. The area is particularly worthy of protection due to the predominantly near-natural course of the Glimke as well as the morphologically and through its usage structure typical pronounced brook valley. It is also an important element in the biotope network with the salt valley to the northwest.

Biotope types

The following biotope types are designated in the Salzetal nature reserve :

  • Alder forest accompanying the stream
  • Stream middle course in the low mountain range
  • Disused wet and damp grassland
  • Beech forest
