location
The approximately 49 hectare nature reserve Bexter Wald extends around two kilometers southwest of Bad Salzufler city center, northwest of the district Wülfer-Bexten and the Ostwestfalenstrasse in the north.
description
The protected area Bexter Wald is described as a structure-rich, predominantly natural deciduous forest complex on waterlogged or wet-affected locations of oak-hornbeam and oak-rich and pure beech forests of different ages, which are traversed by several small streams with accompanying, partially swelling wet forests from south to north .
Together with the other forest areas of the Bexter Forest (north of Ostwestfalenstrasse), the area is an important stepping stone between the Teutoburg Forest in the west and the forests to the east on the Bad Salzuflen ridge.
Protection purpose
The main protection purpose is the preservation and near-natural development of a forest that is significant due to its age, its structure, the existing plant communities and its area, in particular to secure and further develop a very well-structured, near-natural hardwood population, to protect and maintain valuable wet forest areas and source areas, to maintain and Protection of an important retreat and habitat for endangered animal and plant species and for the maintenance and further development of hardwood stocks that are worth protecting.
