The In der Masch area is a nature reserve designated in 2002 by the Detmold Regional Council (NSG number LIP – 042) in the west of the North Rhine-Westphalian town of Bad Salzuflen in the Lippe district in Germany .
location
The approximately 23 hectare In der Masch nature reserve extends west of Bad Salzufler city center between the Herford – Himmighausen railway line in the north and Ziegelstrasse in the south.
description
A post-glacial geomorphological landform in the area of the northwestern German coasts and rivers as well as comparable landforms worldwide is called Masch . A distinction is made between sea marshes , bog marshes, river marshes, floodplains , salt marshes , taiga meadows , drained lakes (polders) and lagoons (or lagoon and limane ).
The protected area In der Masch is described as a structurally rich biotope complex on the edge of the Werreniederung with predominant, contiguous, fresh, partly moist smooth oat meadows, which are subdivided into small areas in the western part by younger hedge structures.
The area is considered to be particularly valuable due to its structural wealth and the large contiguous meadow areas, which are rarely found on this scale in the Werreaue.
Protection purpose
The main protection purpose is the preservation and optimization of a biotope complex in a river valley with the remains of typical floodplain structures and biotopes such as extensive grassland areas and still waters.
Biotope types
In the nature reserve In der Masch the biotope types "fallow fat meadow", "fallow wet and damp grassland", "fat meadow in flat land formation", "bushes or shrub groups", "hedge", "pond" and "bank wood" can be found.
