Glut der Sonne (Original title: Dove si spara di più ) is an Italian-Spanish feature film from 1967 by Gianni Puccini . It is the director's only spaghetti western. The screenplay for the film is by Bruno Baratti and María del Carmen Martínez Román and is loosely based on Shakespeare's tragedy Romeo and Juliet . Peter Lee Lawrence , under the pseudonym Arthur Grant , and his future partner, the Spanish actress Cristina Galbó, play the leading roles .
action
The Mounters family from California and the Campos family from Mexico have been at odds with each other for years. Each tries to drive the other from his country and neither of them shy away from murder and manslaughter. When the youngest son of the Mounters falls in love with the daughter of the patron saint of Campos, the two conjure up a tragedy. While many family members die during the argument, the two lovers survive the conflict.
criticism
The lexicon of international films wrote that the production was a “technically mediocre, but otherwise below all level spaghetti western” .
“The staging adheres to the genre specifications, which in parts robs Puccini's film of its own character and makes it interchangeable with the mass of spaghetti westerns. Nevertheless, the director manages to give the event a tragic fatefulness. "
Remarks
It is a family tragedy based on Romeo and Juliet that takes place in a western setting.
