The Gläsecke is a tributary of the Radau on the northern edge of the Harz in Bad Harzburg .
etymology
The name Gläsecke goes back to the glass processing at the brook in the early modern times. There was a glassworks at the corner of the glass that crushed quartz to make glass. -Ecke is a locally common suffix for rivers in general, see also Röseckenbach .
course
The western tributary is the Goldbach , which rises southeast of the Goldberg , and the eastern tributary is the Börnerbach, which rises in the old Schlewecke north of the Morlberg . These streams flow into the Gläsekental to the Gläsecke . There are also smaller tributaries, most of which are less than 30 cm wide and sometimes dry out.
The Gläsecke flows through the village of Schlewecke north of the Harz and flows into the Radau directly on the Oker – Bad Harzburg railway line .
The glass corner is too flat and too narrow for fishing, but small fish can occasionally be seen in the stream. It is south of Schlewecke from the Lower Saxony Water Management, Coastal and conservation as a body of water of quality class I classified.
Trivia
- Before the merger with the Realschule Bad Harzburg to later become the school on the Deilich , a secondary school was named after the Gläsecke .
