Gospel Changes is an interdenominational gospel choir from Leipzig under the direction of pop cantor Maik Gosdzinski and Therese Galetzka. Both also accompany the choir as soloists. Maik Gosdzinski is also the choir's pianist.

history

Gospel Changes was founded in 2013 by choir director Maik Gosdzinski.

Gospel Changes is a member of the Association of German Concert Choirs . The choir performs around 30 audiences every year, mainly in Leipzig and the surrounding area. He also gives national concerts, for example at the Gospel Church Day 2014 in Kassel and 2016 in Braunschweig .

In the audience vote for the ZDF Christmas Choir 2015, Gospel Changes was one of four choirs to reach the final round.

In February 2016, Gospel Changes accompanied the performance of the German soul singer Stefan Gwildis as a background choir as part of his “Everything rotates” tour in Leipzig.

At the opening of the German Catholic Day in May 2016, Gospel Changes sang in front of 10,000 people at the opening event on the Leipzig market square.

At the invitation of the Association of German Concert Choirs, Gospel Changes took part in the 19th German Choir Festival, which took place in Magdeburg from April 28 to May 1, 2017 .

In August 2017, Gospel Changes performed at the “Classic Open” music festival lasting several days on the Leipzig market square.

In 2018 the choir had two short appearances on the ARD TV show "Olaf macht Mut" and sang together with Olaf Schubert and Carolin Kebekus , among others .

At the major event "Leipziger Markt Musik" organized by the Krystallpalast Varieté in August 2019, Gospel Changes was on stage for a concert.

Initial and continuing education

Since the founding of Gospel Changes, the artistic director Maik Gosdzinski has regularly organized workshops and joint performances with artists from the German and international gospel scene for the choir. So far we have to mention: Helmut Jost and Ruthild Wilson ( Siegen ), Hanjo Gäbler ( Hamburg ), Chris Lass ( Bremen ), Niko Schlenker and Judith Kaufmann-Schlenker ( Ruppichteroth ), Deborah Woodson (USA, Cologne ), Dorrey Lin Lyles (USA, Berlin ) as well as Joakim Arenius ( Örebro / S), Martin Alfsen ( Oslo / N), Mads Pedersen ( Stavanger / N), Tyndale Thomas ( Liverpool / GB), Calvin Bridges ( Chicago / USA) and Isaac S. Cates ( Kansas City / USA).

In order to expand singing skills, Gospel Changes relies on training choir singers using the Complete Vocal Technique (CVT) method. The choir works with vocal coaches Lindsay Lewis (Braunschweig) and Rabih Lahoud (LBN, Monheim am Rhein ).
