Gotfrid
Gotfrid but also Gotefrid, Gotefred or Gottfried (Latin Gotfridus or Cotefredus ; *?; † 709 ) was an Alemannic duke from the Agilolfinger family until 709 . He was the father of Lantfrid and Theudebald and of Odilo , Duke of the Bavarians .
According to a document from the year 700, at the request of a priest Magulfus in Cannstatt , Gotfrid gave the place Biberburg to the cell of Saint St. Gallus .
Gotfrid was bitterly hostile to the Franconian house chests and defended the autonomy of his duchy against their central authority.
When Gotfrid died in 709, his sons Lantfrid and Theudebald jointly claimed the office of duke.
