The Gottesackerkirche St. Maria Himmelfahrt is a Catholic cemetery church in Freising .

The church is located at the eastern end of the cemetery of the parish of St. Georg , immediately north of the Freising old town .

The first mention of the cemetery comes from a document from the St. Veit Abbey from 1410. There, an ellender courtyard in front of the brick gate outside the Freising city fortifications is mentioned. This poor cemetery probably goes back to a plague cemetery from the first half of the 14th century. In 1543, Prince-Bishop Heinrich von der Pfalz acquired part of the site and had the Gottesackerkirche built there in the late Gothic style from 1543–45 (consecrated in 1549), and a cemetery for the then three Freising parishes of St. Georg, St. Veit and St. Andreas .

The church consists of a choir and a hall with a wide vault. Rococo high altarpiece, around 1706, side altarpiece around 1678, numerous tombs and epitaphs.
