Francis Chapel in Attaching

The Franziskuskapelle is a chapel dedicated to St. Francis in the Attaching district of Freising .

In March 2008, Attachinger citizens founded an association with the aim of building a chapel in the village. The foundation stone was laid on May 30, 2010. The land on which the chapel stands was leased by the city of Freising for one euro per year. Construction work lasted until 2012 and on October 3, 2012 the chapel was blessed. The chapel was built as a memorial for the preservation of creation. The Attaching district would be severely affected by the construction of the planned third runway at Munich Airport .

The chapel consists of a round room with a pent roof , the walls of which overlap in one place, and a tower attached to the west, in which the entrance is also located. A ribbon of windows runs around the interior below the roof. In the lower area, a tape with the so-called prayer of St. Francis extends around the entire building. The design comes from the church painter Bernd Flassak.
