history

According to tradition, the founder of the diocese, Korbinian, is said to have consecrated a church in Altenhausen in honor of St. Valentine at the beginning of the 8th century. However, it is more likely that the first church was built under Bishop Arbeo , which was consecrated in 772. This building was replaced by a new Gothic building in the late Middle Ages . The tower has been preserved from this period, and the altar panel on the high altar gives an overall view of the church.

The Freising master builder Dominik Gläsl had the old church torn down except for the tower and added a new nave in 1717 . The stucco in the church was probably made by the Freising court plasterer Nikolaus Liechtenfurtner .
