history

The place is first mentioned in 772 as Altunhusir . In the following centuries the place was mentioned again and again in the context of property deals. The most important landowners were the Bishop of Freising , the Freising Cathedral Chapter and the Neustift Monastery . Altenhausen was just part of the territory of the Hochstift Freising, the sovereignty of the Freising prince-bishop. From 1818 to 1904 the place was part of the community Neustift . On January 1, 1905, the entire community was incorporated into the city of Freising.

In the future, the northeast bypass of the city of Freising will pass northeast of the town. Construction work has been going on since 2017.
