Untergartelshausen is a district of the district town of Freising .

The place is about three kilometers north of the city center and separated from the city by a piece of forest on the road to Haindlfing in the Itzling district . Tüntenhausen is to the east , Pettenbrunn is separated to the west by a former Bundeswehr area . Itzling lies to the north on the slope edge of the Ampertal valley and Haindlfing to the west of it in the Ampertal valley.

The sources for the early history of Untergartelshausen are doubtful, as Gartelshausen , west of Freising, could also have been meant. Untergartelshausen was part of the Haindlfing community, but then split off together with Itzling and three other places and formed the Itzling community. Untergartelshausen has been part of Freising since the regional reform in Bavaria in 1972.
