Location of Pettenbrunn in Bavaria

The hamlet of Pettenbrunn is part of the municipality of Freising in Upper Bavaria . It is located about four kilometers northwest of the center of Freising. In the west and south the place is surrounded by forest. In the east there is a Bundeswehr area with a former MIM-23 HAWK position. In the north lies the village of Feldhof, which consists of only a few houses. Larger places in the vicinity are Wippenhausen , Haindlfing and Untergartelshausen .

The Haidberghof was north-east of Pettenbrunn until 1960. This was sold by the owner family at the end of the 1930s to the state, which had set up a military training area there. In 1945, in the last days of the Second World War , the Haidberghof was the base of Alois Braun, a member of the Bavarian Freedom Campaign . In 1960 the courtyard was demolished when the anti-aircraft missile facility was being built.
